On a semi-trailer, 5 tires burst at the same time on A5 between Neuenburg am Rhein and Bad Bellingen

A new client from Slovenia contacted us using our hotline and asked for help.

On the A5 highway near the German border with France and Switzerland, his truck with a heavy trailer broke down. The car was right on the roadway, the police blocked the right lane. As a result, a traffic jam was formed that went on for 5 meters, and he had to hurry. The problem was that 5 tires of a heavy truck trailer burst, which has a total of 6 axles and, accordingly, 4 tires for each axle. 3 brake cylinders were also broken.

The truck driver had 2 tires with him, he installed them himself and had already managed to disconnect the broken brakes. Next, he needed our help to deliver 3 new tires of a special size. We accepted the request, the client made an advance payment, but everything did not go as smoothly as expected. Below you’ll find out how the situation became more complicated and how we were able to help our client.

What have we done to solve the problem

We immediately started looking for tires of the right size. We quickly found a tire shop among our partner service stations, where such tires were sold in the right quantities, and after 15 minutes the mechanic was ready to go to our client.

After 20 minutes, our partner from the tire fitting service called us, apologized and said that the warehouse and cash register system was synchronized late, because of which the fitter could not find the tires that were needed. Unfortunately, they were sold the day before.

We understood that our client was waiting on the road, and we needed to look for an alternative solution as soon as possible. During this time, the traffic jam had already stretched to 8 km, the police demanded that the client clear the road, the situation was escalating.

We contacted our partners and one partner, who was located in Switzerland, had several tires in the warehouse of the size we needed. We immediately agreed to the delivery and after 4 hours our client's truck was able to pull off the freeway to the nearest parking lot. The road was clear.

Furthermore, we organized the repair of three brake cylinders for the customer, for which we have already acquired specialists from the nearest partner service in Germany.

What could cause damage to several tires at once and why did the client contact us?

We never found out why the client had 5 tires burst at the same time. The reasons may have been different:

  1. Hitting a pit at high speed, consequent severe deformation of the disks and depressurization of tires;
  2. collision with a foreign object and destruction of the tire structure;
  3. mechanical damage to tires (cuts, hernias);
  4. Tire pressure too low or too high, which provokes rubber overheating and damage;
  5. aging of the tire material and loss of elasticity.

Whatever the reason, the problem needed to be addressed urgently. Bear in mind that due to a breakdown, the truck could not move, a traffic jam formed, and the police demanded to immediately clear the road. A little more and the police, most likely, would forcibly tow the truck. As a result, the driver would lose much more time, and he was on the route and had to deliver the goods on time. He would also have to pay more than just shipping tires and repairs.

The driver chose us because we have a perfect score of 5.0 on Google Reviews, and we indeed do our best to solve the client's problem quickly. How do we achieve that?

  • We have a large network of partner service stations throughout Germany. This means that in any city and area of the country we will come to the rescue in 30–60 minutes. Even if that means having to look for a rare spare part, as in this case with wheels of a certain size, we will act very quickly. In this situation, we found the right tires from partners in Switzerland and delivered them to the client. If the driver had independently contacted a German service, the matter would have ended with the tow truck, since no one would look for the necessary tires even outside the country.
  • We help establish contact with police representatives or BAG inspectors. It can be difficult for a driver to communicate in German, he may not fully understand the specifics of the laws in Germany. We will take over the communication, find a compromise-based solution and help you get out of the situation with the least losses!
  • We have framework agreements with more than 600 service stations. Therefore, we can negotiate fair prices for our customers.
  • If you contacted the workshop on your own and have payment difficulties, for example, because of the lack of a customer card, we can act as guarantors.
  • For our regular customers we offer options like installment payments and other pleasant bonuses.

At MT Onroad, an English-speaking operator will be in touch with you quickly. You can contact us 24/7, and we will immediately get to work. Early in the morning, at night or on a holiday - we are always ready to help!
