Replacing airbags on a Volvo FH next to the A7 in Eichenzell
We were approached by a new client from Poland with the following problem: his semi-trailer truck broke down on the road next to the A7 in Eichenzell. It was necessary to replace the tire and air suspension on the left rear axle of the truck. We accepted the request at 13.00, and already at 17.00, thanks to our help, the driver was able to continue moving along the route.
Below, you’ll find out how we acted promptly to solve the problem as quickly as possible and prevent long downtime for our client.
Problem-solving and an unexpected twist
What we’ve done to help the client:
- To avoid missing small but important details, we have clarified all the data: GPS coordinates, tire size, mixing and reloading vehicle registration certificate, part number on the airbag provided by the manufacturer.
- After that, we quickly contacted our partners and received confirmation to go to the specified location from the workshop and from the tire fitting shop.
- Since in this case we were dealing with a new client, we requested an advance payment. The customer was satisfied with the prices, and he immediately transferred the money to us.
- The tire fitting arrived at the place at 14.00, the mobile workshop was supposed to leave after 15.00. Everything went according to plan, but we were in for a surprise.
- When the mobile tire service team arrived at, they noticed that the front air spring on the left side was also broken. The specialists immediately contacted us, and we discussed the situation with the client. Under the circumstances, there was only one way out — to replace both airbags, since you can’t drive with one.
- The client made an additional payment, we immediately informed the workshop that another airbag was needed. Fortunately, the masters had not yet had time to leave, and they had everything they needed in stock.
The result
The tire fitting and mobile workshop specialists coped with their tasks and already at 17.00 our client was able to go on his route. The customer was satisfied with the efficiency, prices and the fact that our specialists immediately noticed the problem, which would have made itself felt after a short period of time.
What if the client tried to solve the problem on their own?
We recognize that trucks are experienced drivers who have repeatedly navigated difficult situations on the roads without assistance. But it is important to consider that our driver was in a foreign country. Suppose that the driver decided to save on our services and try to solve the problem on his own. What would he need to do? His first option would be to find workshop phone numbers on the Internet and to start calling them.
He could encounter several problems there:
- the language barrier;
- he does not have a customer card of a certain workshop;
- It’s not possible to guarantee payment, again due to the lack of this card, they queue for several days in advance.
If the driver spent a while stationary on the road, he could face difficulties with the BAG or the police. A typical scenario in that case is: the police calls a tow truck. To then pick up the vehicle, you will need to pay and solve the repair problem again.
