TOP fuel cards for carriers accepted by service stations in Germany

According to various sources, the current volume of the global fuel card market is estimated at $16-20 billion. A plastic fuel card looks like a regular credit card equipped with an electronic microchip on which all important information, including individual user data ID, is stored.

EMV-compliant plastic fuel cards are almost impossible to counterfeit, so this is a good security solution, even if it requires an initial investment.

In Germany, as in other European countries, fuel cards are actively used by local transport companies. Below, we’ll describe to you which of them can be used to pay at German gas stations.

Which fuel cards are better to use in Germany

  1. Shell card. The owners of these cards receive many benefits like access to safe parking lots, car washes, professional maintenance, fast roadside assistance in case of a breakdown. The card is valid not only in Germany, but throughout Europe.
  2. Routex. Almost universal cards that can be used throughout Europe. The card is issued for two years, invoices are issued every two months. This card can be used to pay for services at gas stations, highways, car washes, service stations.
  3. E100. One of the most popular fuel cards. In terms of benefits,  there is the possibility of VAT refunds. Cardholders can become members of the Roadside Assistance Club. A card is issued for two years, invoices are issued every 15 or 30 days.
  4. IDS. Another European card with free service. Bills are paid once every two months.
  5. Tankpool24. Fuel card accepted in 13 European countries. Benefits: lower fuel prices in Germany.
  6. EuroShell. Another universal version of the card, which is accepted in 35 European countries. This one is issued for four years, and the frequency of billing and settlement of payments is individual.

  8. UTA. The cards are valid throughout Europe. You can pay for the service, road assistance, also pay tolls, use of highways, tunnels, bridges.

Using these cards, it’s easier to pay for services at gas stations and rest stops, but does not guarantee that all problems will be solved on the spot. Some gas stations may only accept certain cards for payment, and many garages have enough regular customers and are in no hurry to accept applications if the vehicle does not have German registration, or you represent a foreign company.
